The Modern China

This picture is from JS Online, a Milwaukee based newspaper, from an article titled, "China engineers its next great leap". Below is caption for this photo that is provided by the newspaper.
"Office towers glow in the night in a view from atop the Di Wang Center, the tallest building in downtown Shenzhen, China. Many of the offices are occupied by China's new generation of "knowledge workers." The country wants to outgrow its reputation for copying things and move toward industrial self-sufficiency."

This demonstrates that China is not just the old traditional country that may be portrayed in American movies. It is becoming a global power both through its economy, infrastructure, and its advances in technology.

The Economy proves to be #1 issue

An article published by the China Post on November 5, 2008, entitled "Economy, 1st time voters and Bush led Obama's win", discusses the primary factors that helped President Elect Barack Obama to his victory over John McCain. The issue that this author sees as the number one issue is the U.S. economy. It is mentioned how alot of the U.S. voters viewed McCain as following George W. Bush in his economic Polcies. this dilema seemed to assist in Obama's campaign. The article also mentions new voter turnout in this election. It states that 1 in 10 voters said that this was their first time voting, and 7 out of 10 of these new voters were for Obama.
